Известно, что возраст женщины не измеряется годами, возраст — это не показатель возраста прекрасной половины человечества. Анна Андреевна Ахматова — королева российской и советской поэзии, и её время — либо прекрасная, полная поэтического восторга молодость, либо женская мудрая зрелость.
Анна Андреевна Ахматова (Горенко) 23 июня 1889 года в Одессе, в семье морского инженера. Известно, что по просьбе отца, попросившего «не позорить» дочь «фамилию», Анна, которой в тот момент было 29 лет, взяла псевдоним, сделавший её знаменитой — Ахматова.
После двух замужеств Анна Андреевна перестала брать в качестве второй фамилии фамилию мужа и окончательно стала Ахматовой.
В первом браке с известным поэтом-акмеистом Николаем Гумилёвым у неё родился сын Лев, ставший впоследствии археологом, учёным -этнографом, историком, философом.
У поэтессы Анны Ахматовой печальная судьба — её первый муж Николай Гумилёв был расстрелян, сын Лев получил 10 лет лагерей, второй — Владимир Шумейко умер от туберкулёза, а третий муж Николай Пунин умер в лагере в марте 1953 года.

Саму же поэтессу не трогали — ходили слухи, что её стихами зачитывалась дочь тов. Сталина Светлана Аллилуева. Тем не менее, тучи один раз всё-таки сгустились над головой Анны Андреевны — в 1945 году её совершенно перестали печатать.
Известно, что Ахматову неоднократно выдвигали на Нобелевскую премию: впервые в 1965 году, но тогда премию получил Михаил Шолохов. Её кандидатуру выдвинули на следующий год, её оппонентами стали Константин Паустовский и Владимир Набоков.
Возможно, Ахматова и получила бы «Нобелевку», в тот год поэтесса умерла, а по правилам Нобелевского комитета номинант должен быть жив.
Говорят, что Ахматова обладала даром предвидения: как-то спускаясь с первым мужем, Николаем Гумилёвым по ступенькам, сказала: «Господи, так на казнь идут!» — вскоре поэт был арестован и расстрелян. Предсказала она и собственную смерть: Ахматова приехала в санаторий лечиться, но ни с того ни с сего попросила Библию, что посчитали предчувствием смерти. В возрасте 76 лет поэтесса скончалась.
